Closeup of the Female Sphinx adoring a Cartouche. Note the Lotus plant atop her headress, and Lotus (Papyrus ?) plants below her. Scholars refer to this particular rendering of the sphinx as an "ASIATIC sphinx," Egyptian sphinxes generally not being rendered with extended wings, but with wings flat against their back.
