Canaanite "Cherubim throne" after an ivory found at Megiddo (New Testament : Armageddon), from the Late Bronze Age, ca. 1200 BCE (Phoenician craftsmanship).
The sphinxes, with extended wings, were popular in Phoenicia and such thrones exist, in stone, down to the Hellenistic era. The "Mercy Seat" atop the Ark of the Covenant is believed to have been inspired by such thrones.
